A Useful Guide to Enlighten Teeth Whitening

A Useful Guide to Enlighten Teeth Whitening

In recent years, tooth whitening treatment has grown increasingly popular in the UK. As our teeth are stained by our lifestyles, many of us are now seeking professional whitening treatment from highly trained dentists to achieve the pearly whites that we are aiming for, as opposed to opting for dangerous off-the-shelf whitening kits that could potentially do irreversible damage to the teeth and gums. The Enlighten teeth whitening system is at the forefront of the whitening revolution.

Whilst there are a number of different teeth whitening systems on the market, Enlighten is the only one that guarantees at least a Vita shade B1 for every patient. For this reason, it’s widely acknowledged as the most effective whitening system in the world.

The Enlighten teeth whitening process

Enlighten whitening takes place in two stages.

Stage 1 – home whitening

At an initial consultation, a dentist talks through the Enlighten process and your teeth are assessed to ensure that you are suitable for whitening treatment. Providing it is safe for you to go ahead, the dentist can then create moulds of your teeth so that customised trays can be created. To prepare the teeth for treatment, patients are given an Enlighten tooth serum to use in the lead up to whitening.

Once whitening trays are ready, the at home whitening process can begin. Each night, you are required to apply whitening gel to the trays and wear them over your teeth. Wearing whitening trays over night gives the teeth plenty of chance to absorb the gel. To help eliminate teeth sensitivity, a desensitising liquid is provided to apply to the teeth before wearing whitening trays and Enlighten serum toothpaste should be used.

The at-home whitening stage of treatment lasts for two or three weeks, depending on the initial assessment and the level of existing staining on your teeth.

Stage 2 – surgery whitening

Following the completion of stage 1, you will then undergo a session of in-surgery teeth whitening. This takes place at a much higher concentration in order to help lock in the whitening. It’s normal for teeth to feel a little sensitive following this stage of treatment, however, this sensitivity usually fades quickly.

The best results are usually encountered around two weeks after treatment is completed. In this time, the teeth are able to rehydrate and re-mineralise, leaving you with a healthy and white smile.
