From time to time we get asked about dental insurance plans and finance. Dental insurance is no different from any other health insurance, except that many surgeries have “their own” plan, set up by an insurance company and designed to ensure that patients don’t go elsewhere – they are tied to that practice. Practices pay a significant amount of money to run the scheme and guess from whom that money must be recouped. Similar schemes apply to finance, where the patient is offered “interest-free” finance which costs the practice dearly, such costs being, of course, recouped from the patients.
At Dentalia, we suggest an independent insurance provider with whom we have no connection or financial interest whatsoever, leaving the patient free to go wherever they like. Likewise, we suggest that the most competitive source of finance is likely to be the patient’s bank or similar.
We want patients come back to us because of our quality and service, not because they are constrained to.
